I have no excuse. Life got insanely busy and I also had to make sure my anime site is working more smoothly. I was overwhelmed by a lot of things that I literally forgot about this one. I'm here now but don't be surprised if I suddenly stop this list again. I am switching plans though. I can no longer put awesome GIFs in this blog and I'd have to half ass most of the moments so I can crunch out as many as I can to make up for lost time. I'd circle back and make them pretty later on. I'm sorry. Life is a b*tch and it rode me hard but I'm here so let's do this.

Week 0: Coming Soon

Week 1: 150-141

Week 2: 140-131

130. Eri and Harima

kh

An anime moment by: DarkerRyan

The anime: School Rumble San Gakki

The moment: This two episode OVA is pretty much a rushed pathetic way to close the series. We learned that Karasuma actually has a huge crush on Tenma as well but he can’t love her back because he has a serious disease. He needed to go to America to cure it but Tenma decided to follow him. Harima chose that seeing her happy is more important than anything else so he got his bike then grabbed Tenma. They went to the airport and Harima said his goodbye to the girl she likes. The next day, Harima was a serious wreck. Harima had just said his goodbyes to his longtime crush, Tenma, and was reeling from his injuries after getting into a rough fight outside of a bar. Perhaps the last person he wanted to see the next morning was Sawachika Eri. Harima didn’t appreciate Eri being nice to him. He doesn’t think that someone as beautiful and rich and popular as her can understand what it feels to hurt from a broken heart. Eri had enough though. She clenched her first then beat the crap out of Harima. He doesn’t understand that it’s impossible for her to find someone that truly loves her because of her status. He doesn’t understand that she has been hurting longer than him.

The love: Throughout the entire series, these two characters have crossed paths, in both amusing and shameful ways, and never once did I imagine that they could possibly be a couple. Of course, that didn't stop me from rooting for them. Sawachika had always been my favorite character and this scene entirely solidifies why. Her money and status have given her unshakable labels, those that Harima entirely buys into without fully realizing how someone like her could understand the pain of not finding true love. Yet in the end, she opens his eyes (and if you read the end of the manga, it seems like they get together in the end).

Some more love: “In the manga, these two got together and had a baby. Spoiler alert, I guess. I did not like this two part OVA. It rushed the ending and it just felt hollow. The whole love story of Tenma and Karasuma just feels forced. The ending with Harima not ending up with anyone was a bit disappointing. I’m with DarkerRyan. I wanted Eri and Harima to have a special moment. This is what we got. I guess I can’t complain much. It was a decent moment albeit short and unfulfilling. Watching this OVA makes me want to watch the entire series again. That OP is nostalgic.” -Karuhi

129. Hotel room almost sex scene- B Gata H kei

kh

An anime moment by: vrose868

The anime: B Gata H Kei

The moment: The premise of the show is about a girl that wants to f*ck a lot of men but she is still a virgin. She’s pretty as hell but she seems to be very self-conscious about her vag**a calling it “weird”. Yeah, anyways, she decided to have her first time with a normal plain guy and she’s been chasing after him for eleven episodes. In the final episode, the two decided to just say they want to f*ck each other and agreed to go to a motel. This was the moment the show was preparing for. The two undressed, started teasing each other, skipped oral and lay in bed together naked. Finally, the characters will lose their virginity and the anime can end on a somewhat happy yet ultimately disgusting note. The guy almost got it in. He seems to be going in blind and the girl was so tense she accidentally hit the rotating bed’s rotating button and the bed spun uncontrollably. It not only killed the mood but also threw the guy off the bed injuring his ankle. He was hospitalized after that and the anime ended with the two characters not having sex. There was a cute scene of the girl visiting the guy in the hospital and accidentally hurting his penis but its clear the anime dangled a carrot we never got to see eaten. I’m talking about the pen*s. Ok, the pen*s.

The love: A lighthearted, hormone filled anime is just what the doctor ordered. Their attempt at love in the hotel was a pretty hilarious and ironic. An unusually forceful and confident Kosuda finds himself only seconds away from heaven when he is thwarted by a rather unusually insecure and uncommitted Yamada, simply hilarious.

Some more love: “Haha, this was a hilarious moment. I kept hoping something would happen but that would have made this into a hentai. :P ” -MaxVolume

128. The Sootsprites

An anime moment by: Ausdoz

The anime: Spirited Away

The moment: When Chihiro first came to the hot spring for supernatural beings, she first met a man with many arms controlling the water flow of the baths. The creatures manning the big furnace that keeps the hot springs hot are a bunch of cute little things called Soot sprites. They’re little dust ball-like things that carry coals in an assembly line then throws it in the furnace to keep it going. They’re adorable but also mischievous when they try to take advantage of Chihiro by trying to push the work of carrying the coals onto them for which they got a big yelling from their boss.

SpiritedAway_Rat700

The love: This is more just 'cause I love the soot sprites. They're silly and easily one of my favorite characters ever in a Miyazaki. Something about their movement cracks me up every time. Their introduction is just charming and entertaining and really captures that fantastical feeling of Ghibli perfectly.

Some more love: “Cute and creative, but not so impressive to be on a top 100 list.” – FierceAlchemist “FierceAlchemist is right. This isn’t Top 100 material. I kinda ran out of anime to meet the 150 quota so I pulled this one out of my rabbit hat. Everybody loves the Sootsprites though so it works out in the end.” - Karuhi

"Thank you, Karuhi, for providing that specific picture, cause that is easily the funniest moment of the entire film. Chihiro just got done touching that black stuff and getting the spider guy to help remove its effects with that weird gesture, so the mouse decides to do the same and the Sootsprites cheer when he "survives" the ordeal. How frat-boyish can one get?" - Maxvolume

127. Naruto's Big Speech (episode 49)

An anime moment by: Brucewaynebrady

The anime: Naruto

The moment: Sai wanted to learn more about his bond with his deceased brother by learning about Naruto’s bond with Sasuke. Naruto then gave this speech that sums up the friendship and rivalry the two has built up until this point. Impressed, Sai betrayed his comrade and joins Yamato’s group.

The love: Naruto quickly made me a fan with his strong will, the badass fight scenes and such fun characters. Everytime Naruto looked like he should give up, he digs deep and fights. It resonated with me constantly, and this short scene from Shippuden is one of my favorite. I felt so inspired after seeing this. I wanted to learn to say these lines in Japanese.

Some more love: “Not sure about this one. Just another “never give up” Shonen speech.” - FierceAlchemist“ I’m not the biggest Naruto fan. Yeah….but I do think its simple moments like these that makes an anime special to some people and I respect that BruceWayneBrady is swayed by moments like these.” -Karuhi

126. Hanekawa confesses her love

An anime moment by: foxrevolution

The anime: Bakemonogatari Season 2

The moment: In the first arc of the second season, Hanekewa (the catgirl) and the main character, Koyomi Araragi takes on a familiar case. They were trying to solve the case of a girl venting her frustrations in life by being a tiger that attacks people at night. Yes, the same thing Hanekawa went through. The whole arc was about them and the growing tension between them that has been building up since the very first installment of the monogatari series. In the final moments, they managed to solve the case successfully. In the same moment, Hanekawa finally confesses to Araragi. He was surprised but he ultimately rejected her. She smiles as if it was she was expecting the rejection but then started crying after the man she loves outright rejected her knowing he is already head over heels over someone else.

aaa1

The love: Catgirl love is hard… first Kuroneko now this? Two heart breaking tear jerking nekomimi moments in such short order… I will never be the same… Hanekawa knew the answer before she even asked…

Some more love: “First of all, it took a lot of pleading to get the longest ani-blogger in the myIGN community to join this project. I was hoping other anime lovers would join in after seeing the fun the first list brought us. Getting Catgurlday to share his moments was a huge victory either way. Secondly, this was a second season I haven’t seen so I hate FoxRevolution for spoiling this anime for me. Oh, and the confession was sweet. She was expected to be dumped but I’m glad it happened. Now if only we get another toothbrush scene, now that’ll be something else. -Karuhi”

125. Yukito Disappears

An anime moment by: RJaimes

The anime: Air

The moment: In episode 7, Yukito disappears. He learned that Mizuki actually gets sick and her conditioned worsened whenever she is close to another person. For her safety, he decided to leave. However, wishing for another chance to be with her, Yukito comes back as a crow watching over her for the rest of the episodes.

The love: The makers of Clannad never fail to make me feel like shit. This was such a powerful moment because of how bad I felt for Misuzu. She had to feel the pain of going through her whole life without having any friends because of her awkwardness and mental breakdowns, but then along came Yukito. Everything changed when he became her first friend. She had so many heartwarming experiences and good memories but that only made even more tragic when Yukito had to leave her. She had lost her only friend she really ever had at the time.

Some more love: “I watched this back when it was airing. That was a long time ago. This was also one of the very first Kyoto Animation anime so this was a different kind of show. It was straight up a Key Visual novel adaptation and I distinctly remember hating it. The show was mostly about the girl and the guy bonding and somewhat falling in love yet it was suddenly abandoned so the show can give us a tear jerking mother-daughter moment. It did not make sense to me. Later on, after spoiling myself with the visual novel, I realized that the moment was supposed to be a sad and heavy hearted decision by the main character for the sake of the girl she loves. He came back as a crow as a way to show his strong love and dedication to the girl. You’ll notice that the crow always appear at the background of every episode which was actually a foreshadowing technique by the story.” -Karuhi

"This is definitely one of the more surprising moments in my recent anime memory (and a little depressing, too). A guy whose supposedly been the main character for the entire duration of the series suddenly disappears halfway through? ...What the hell, man?" - MaxVolume

124. Sai disappears

An anime moment by: fantaffx

The anime: Hikaru no Go

The moment: Hikaru and Sai went to a Go Seminar where Hikaru had a chance to go one on one with a strong Go player. During this time, Sai knows that his time is almost up. Earlier, he told Hikaru that he was going to disappear soon but the boy didn’t believe him. Throughout the rest of the episode, Sai was deep in his thoughts before he disappears. It was a slow episode that focused on the final moments of Sai while Hikaru is completely oblivious. It ends with Sai asking Hikaru for a Go match. During the game, with Hikaru feeling sleepy and disinterested, Sai disappeared. It was quick. Sai was talking to Hikaru but the boy couldn’t hear him. The screen faded to white and the room went silent. Hikaru then looked at his opponent but he was gone. He gazed the room wide eyed and in shock.

Untitled

The love: How often do you get to see a story where one of the main characters disappears? Sai disappearing is one of the best moments in all of anime because a character who has been the driving force for the entire story is now gone. It leaves a whole in Hikaru's heart and is fantastic to see such a pivotal event unfold.

Some more love: “It was a sad moment. Sai was so melancholic and the fact that Hikaru didn’t even bother to care made you feel for Sai more. I was hoping the moment would be more dramatic but I think it was a just a plot device because I heard Hikaru became more motivated after Sai disappeared. Also, this show had a small Go tutorial for the audience where to girls are teaching the basics. It reminded me of vintage Japanese porn because of the quality of the video. Plus, the girl in the sweater is hot. I’m weird, I know.” -Karuhi

123. Asuka's Death

An anime moment by: ZeldaRacer

The anime: Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (2.22)

The moment: After the ninth angel takes over Eva 3, piloted by Asuka, Shinji is tasked with stopping it. But he refuses, so his father initiates the Dummy System. The Dummy System thoroughly destroys Eva 3, which includes biting the capsule that contains Asuka.

The love: Eva 3 explodes. All the while, extremely unfitting music plays during the destruction. I think that last detail is why the scene resonated with me. The soft music combined with the brutality of the Dummy powered Eva makes it incredibly memorable.

Some more love: “Making the Eva unit that goes crazy Asuka’s is more effective than the TV show since you’re more attached to her character.” -FierceAlchemist

122. Sakura confesses to Syaoran

An anime moment by: Karuhi

The anime: Card Captor Sakura: The Sealed Clow Card

The moment: Sakura finally confronts “The Nothing” card that was plaguing the town. It eats up various things and places with its void powers. Sakura and the card met one last time at a tower. The sealed card simply wants her friends back, the Clow Cards, but Sakura manages to convince her that true friendship isn’t about controlling others. The climactic moment came when Sakura tried to convert the card but it comes with a heavy price. Syaoran will lose his feelings for Sakura. He didn’t mind and told Sakura that even if he lost his feelings for her, he’ll definitely fall in love with her again. The Nothing then turn into a “Sakura Card” (Clow cards are made by a guy named Clow) called The Hope. At top the tower knowing that Syaoran has lost all his deep feelings for Sakura, she gazes at him and then made a big confession of love. Syaoran smiled and said he loves her too. Sakura then leaps into Syaoran’s arms and the two embraced.

The love: This is what everyone young girl that grew up watching Cardcaptor Sakura wanted to see. They wanted a proper ending to the love story the show has nicely build up. The original show didn’t provide that so the movie took care of that. The whole thing was about Sakura telling Syaoran she likes her back but she was too much of a wimp to do so. The climactic moment came and it was so satisfying. Finally, the story I grew up with as a child gave me the proper closure I needed. Now if only Fruits Basket could do the same then I can die happy.

121. Heero attempts to self-detonate

aaa3

An anime moment by: foxrevolution

The anime: Gundam Wing

The moment: After a heated battle with the OZ troop, Heero and the team was suddenly faced with a huge problem. Instead of foiling the plans of the OZ, they were now forced to surrender themselves and hand over their Gundams after this ultra-villainous woman threatened to fire a bunch of missiles towards the defenseless space colonies. Lady Une really wanted them gone and she would stoop this low even after the constant urging of her comrades that what she is doing isn’t something their leader would tolerate. She didn’t care. She would even push the missile button herself if Heero and the group don’t give themselves up. The rebels were forced to surrender knowing Lady Une wasn’t joking. She ordered the pilots to hand over the Gundams. Their leader gave Heero one final message though.

I surrender but I will not hand over the Gundams. I repeat. I surrender but I will NOT hand over the Gundams.

Heero: Mission accepted.

And Heero detonated his Gundam with him in it. The next scene we see are the remains of the Gundam and Heero’s lifeless body laying in a pool of his own blood.

The love: The most memorable suicide attempt in Gundam Wing. I will never forget seeing Heero lay in a pool of his own blood after refusing to hand over his Gundam.

Some more love: “Heero is an emotionless badass just like any great anime has.” -gonholio
