This is the third edition of the Anime Roundup. Since I have very little time to regularly blog and I want to slowly creep myself back in myIGN, I decided to combine all my little blog ideas into one big blog. My posts are all about anime anyways, so I think it is better this way. I’m trying new things as well in my blogging approach so I thought it’d be great to cram it all here. Also, because I love a good spreading my anime love, I’ll be featuring blogs from other users in this blog so give them a read as well.

Anime Feature #1

In this section, I’ll feature some anime that is Karuhi approved. I’ve seen it and I’ve liked it. They’re solid anime that will appeal to a lot of people. Anime in this section are guaranteed enjoyable and pretty awesome.

Karuhi approves of: Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl (Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko)

In Japan, being electric is another term for being crazy. It’s a new slang and it soon entered anime. This anime is pretty fun to watch and I personally put this in my top twenty anime of all time. The anime is about a guy who recently moved into a new town. He was supposed to be living alone with his aunt but his aunt actually has a child. She doesn’t tell people about her child because she wraps herself in a futon and walks around town telling people that she is an alien. This guy, after being freaked out a couple of times, soon decides to help his cousin snap out of her delusions.

It’s a very funny anime that is very character driven. There isn’t really a strong story to pull you in but it’s not really a huge flaw of the anime. Why? That’s because the characters are pretty interesting. The cast has some pretty likeable personality that is a bit eccentric and cute. Whether it’s the girl inside the futon or the girl in an astronaut suit or even an old lady thinking she’ll be a victim of cattle mutilation pretty soon, there is no shortage of interesting characters to keep you intrigued.

The best part of this anime though is that the illustration and character design is done by debuting artist named Buriki. After I saw this anime, I immediately track down the artist because the character design is pretty amazing. He has a distinct style that makes his characters pretty awesome. The nice hint of cuteness and some dollops of sexiness make his character designs incredibly appealing to the eye.

Of course, I have the GIF to prove it.

He has also done character design in another anime called Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukanai and an upcoming anime by powerhouse studio PA Works.

This show is pretty incredible. The nice combination of the eccentric cast and the beautiful animation makes this anime a solid anime. It’s also 100% Karuhi approved so check it out and see exactly just how wonderful the anime is.

Or just let this GIF convince you. I think it captured the eccentric nature of the anime as well as the beautiful designs.

Around the myIGN Anisphere

These are blogs that different myIGN users posted. I’ll try to feature recent ones so if you ever posted an anime blog this week then post the link in the comments below and it’ll appear in the next Anime Roundup.

Elfen Lied Review by Dannyboy Uther. This is the 13th installment of the Bf+Gf anime review. Yeah, it’s a review done by two people with varying points of view. It’s a pretty solid review and they talked about of the goriest anime ever.

Cat(girl)urday The Future is Neow by foxrevolution. This is another entry into the long running series of blogs by the resident catgirl lover.

Eden of the East Movie 1 Review by Code Elite88. This is another installment of the series of reviews this awesome guy is doing. Sadly, the link is gone and he changed his name to Sybernetik88, which probably caused the shutdown of his blogs. I didn’t even know you change your name here. 0.0

Fate Zero Eng Dub by Jbh. A huge news to all Fate Zero fans in the US covered by this awesome dude.

Anime Figure Blog by LtColInsane. It’s just a blog about anime figures cause this douche is showing it off. Nah, I kid. He’s not showing it off. He’s still a douche though. True story.

If you made an anime blog or anything anime related then send it my way so I can put them here. A little exposure wouldn’t hurt, right? They will appear in the next anime roundup.

Anime Feature #2

This section is about some pretty unique anime. They’re short anime that run for less than thirty minutes. There is a lot of anime like this and they often go unnoticed because they’re often plain looking or they’re overshadowed by other anime. I dig through a lot of anime so let me show you some anime that I think were solid and they’re pretty short. They’ll probably be in youtube or something. It’s convenient.

Short Feature of the Week is: Thermae Romae

This is a flash animated anime so the quality is pretty poor. The movements of the characters are limited and most times, only the mouth moves. There are a lot of anime like this that runs for only six minutes or less and done in flash. The animation may be subpar but the anime is still pretty sweet.

It features a roman guy who designs buildings. After hitting a slump, he decided to take a quick bath in a public bath house. He noticed a hole at the bottom of the bathtub and decided to investigate. It sucked him and he soon travelled time towards the future. He soon pops out in modern day Japan and the advancement of technology astounds him.

The joke is the exaggerated response this roman guy has towards mundane things such as poached egg or indoor plumbing. He lashes out praises about how awesome the Japanese toilet is and that he feels inferior to them. He goes back and forth between the past and the future. He gets inspiration from the things he sees in the future and applies them into bathhouses in the past.

A lot of people love this anime for its wit and execution of its comedy. Even though the characters don’t blink or that only their mouth moves, the comedy of the anime comes through and satisfies viewers. So give this anime a try if you have the time. Its super short so it won’t eat much of your time.

Super Power Spotlight

These are superpowers that were seen in an anime. There are a lot of pretty unique powers found in anime so I’ll try to focus them all in this segment. I’ll try to feature those uncommon ones as well and avoid powers seen in popular anime like Bleach or DBZ.

Playboy Genes

What’s a good name for a guy that has the ability to sleep with any girl? Junta, from DNA², is known as a population bomb for having slept with one hundred girls and impregnating them. The girls all had male babies and these boys also impregnated one hundred girls then the process is repeated. No girl can say to his charm and that makes him pretty damn awesome.

In the anime though, a time traveler went back in time before he was a mega playboy to prevent his powers from awakening. It would’ve been awesome to see him unleash his wrath but the girls under his spell when he was being the mega playboy are pretty fun to watch.

Do you want this superpower? I guess it’s a matter of how smooth you are but c’mon, one hundred girls melting in your palms? I’d want it and I’d probably top that by going the world impregnating one of every nationality. Oh yeah, it’s effed up.

Anime Feature #3

The anime in this section will be all about the most main stream genre in anime, Shounen. I’m sure even casual fans have dipped their toes in the genre because it’s pretty popular. I’ll be featuring some pretty unknown shounen anime in this section though. Let’s save the Narutos and the One Piece for another day. I’ll also feature pretty recent ones and those I’ve recently finished.

I admittedly don’t watch a lot of mainstream Shounen anime because of the number of episodes they have. I hear One Piece has entered 500 plus and going into 600. Yikes, I can’t watch that many anime. So let me talk about some Shounen anime with under fifty episodes.

Shounen anime of this week is: Phi Brain Puzzle of God

If you’ve ever seen Yugi Oh or any other game type Shounen anime then Phi Brain will feel familiar. It’s a simple anime about puzzles. There are a lot of puzzles featured in the anime ranging from simple brain teasers, riddles and then it gradually up the ante with deadly puzzles and even puzzle duels. The main character is a puzzle genius that can solve puzzles with deadly repercussion under pressure.

The anime is about a secret organization trying to cause harm to people using puzzles and the main character has vowed to solve every puzzle he comes across with. The secret organization has something sinister in plan though that involves the main character. The main bad guy of the anime also has a dark relationship with the main character.

You’d think an anime about puzzles would be limited but this anime is so successful that it already has two seasons and another season in the works. The charm of puzzle solving and the fact that every puzzle presented in the anime is legit is pretty awesome. You can solve the puzzles presented in the anime because the creators spent a lot of time in the puzzles in the anime. I think there are more than 100 puzzles in both seasons of the anime. It’s pretty awesome.

It’s your standard Shounen but it’s also pretty unique because of its premise. This is a solid anime and I’m sure you’d be hoping you’re the one solving the sadistically hard puzzles in the anime.

Random Anime Fact

Hello Kitty is a cat that talks but you can clearly see that she has no mouth. The reason is that the beloved kitty talks with her heart.

People call her Hello Kitty but her actual name is Kitty White.

She lives in London, England.

And that’s that. That’s another week of Anime Roundup done.

If you made any anime blog this week, then post it in my wall or the comments below and it’ll appear in the net anime round up.

I write reviews in my own anime site so stop by if you have the time. Check out more anime in my site.

See ya next week.
